Battlefield Studios has announced details and released a trailer for Season 3 of Battlefield 6, scheduled to launch on May 12th, 2026. This season will introduce “Railway To Golmud,” a reimagined version of the iconic Golmud Railway map from Battlefield 4, which will be the largest map in Battlefield 6 to date. The update will also feature a new game mode called Obliteration. Additionally, Battlefield 6’s free-to-play battle royale mode, REDSEC, will receive a ranked matchmaking system in Season 3. “Railway To Golmud” is described as four times larger than Mirac, the previous largest map in Battlefield 6. The map retains the original’s winding railway but updates the layout with more buildings, creating additional chokepoints for combat. Mid-season, Battlefield 6 will return to Egypt with the “Bazar of Cairo” map, inspired by a Battlefield 3 map, emphasizing infantry combat within its narrow streets and main arteries.

Battlefield 6 Season 3: Enhanced Railway to Golmud, New Weapons, and Mortar Changes

Season 3 will introduce new weapons: the L115 Sniper Rifle, the RPK74M Machine Gun, the M16A4 Assault Rifle, and the PP19 SMG. The train on “Railway To Golmud” has been enhanced with more carts for improved cover and parkour opportunities. This train will now travel directly to the enemy HQ instead of a captured point. Beyond map and weapon additions, the update includes balance adjustments for input methods, reducing automatic recoil control for controllers. Mortars will also see changes, with ammunition no longer regenerating passively while another mortar is in use, and accuracy will decrease over long distances to discourage large-scale camping. Battlefield Studios is refining vehicles in anticipation of Season 4, which will introduce naval battles. The initial phase of Season 3 for both Battlefield 6 and REDSEC will be released on May 12th, 2026.
