Lana Del Rey collaborated with David Arnold to create “First Light,” the main theme for 007: First Light, IO Interactive’s new video game developed in partnership with Amazon MGM Studios, marking James Bond’s return to gaming. The song, now available on streaming platforms via Interscope Records, provides a unique interpretation of James Bond’s origins. Arnold stated that Del Rey’s sound captures Bond’s essence and the game’s jazzy feel. IO Interactive and Amazon recognize the crucial role of music in every Bond project, which led them to Del Rey, whom they consider one of the most prominent voices of her generation and a multi-platinum selling artist. Del Rey and Arnold originally teamed up for the theme tune in 2015, but producers rejected their song. Earlier, Del Rey had written a track called “24” for a Bond film before Sam Smith was chosen for Spectre. Previous theme songs for Bond games include Joss Stone’s for James Bond 007: Blood Stone (2010) and Mya’s for Everything or Nothing (2004). The goal was to create another memorable song in the collection of main themes associated with the secret agent.
