Resident Evil Requiem is off to a record-breaking start, achieving both critical acclaim and impressive sales figures. However, some Valve users are reporting technical issues with Resident Evil: Extinction, including game crashes and problems remapping the arrow keys. It is unclear if these issues are related to the launch of Requiem. Despite these issues with another title, Resident Evil Requiem reached 267,509 concurrent players on Steam within an hour of its launch, surpassing the previous franchise record of 168,191 players set by Resident Evil 4 in 2023. The game also immediately rose to the top spot among the best-selling games on Steam Global, including in Brazil. The latest installment in the Resident Evil series reached a peak of 314,000 concurrent players on Steam, making it the most-played Resident Evil game on the platform. This nearly doubles the record previously held by the Resident Evil 4 remake. Currently, Resident Evil Requiem is the fourth most-played game on Steam. Capcom launched Resident Evil Requiem on Friday, February 27, 2024, for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
