Assassin’s Creed Shadows is set to receive its final update, version 1.1.1, on June 16th, marking the end of the game’s support. This update introduces a concluding storyline quest, “Black Tides,” which serves as the ultimate chapter for the adventures of protagonists Naoe and Yasuke. In “Black Tides,” players will face off against the mysterious “Black Cross,” a duo of formidable warriors who arrive in Japan to hunt the main characters. To access this quest, players must have completed the main story and all post-launch quests. The “Traque Sur Awaji” expansion is not required. The update also introduces “Domains,” a new game mode featured in the “Like a Prayer for Domains” add-on. This mode is set during Canada’s harsh winters, featuring limited visibility that increases its difficulty. “Domains” takes the form of combat arenas where player-created builds and unlocked equipment are paramount. Several exclusive rewards, including new skins, are available. Further enhancements include new events and unlockable costumes within the Animus hub. Notably, an outfit inspired by Edward Kenway has been added, creating a connection to the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Remastered (Resynced). This crossover content will not be available on the Nintendo Switch 2.

The “Domains” feature offers five gameplay trials designed to test players’ build customization skills across various difficulty levels, with new rewards for completion. Players will be able to carry over key items and progress from Shadows to the Black Flag remake. Additionally, a new Animus rift has been added to the game. With this final update, Ubisoft provides a definitive conclusion to Naoe and Yasuke’s journey in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, allowing the studio to conclude the chapter before moving on to Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced.
