Fumito Ueda’s new project, originally teased at The Game Awards 2024 as “Project Robot,” has been revealed as Genatlas. This single-player, open-world action-adventure game, developed by Ueda’s studio genDESIGN with financial support from Epic Games, made a more substantial appearance at Summer Game Fest 2026, shedding light on its gameplay and setting. The initial two-minute teaser depicted a young boy with robotic limbs attempting to escape an explosion aboard a colossal robot, leaving many questions unanswered. Since then, the project had remained largely under wraps. Genatlas places players on an abandoned planet where they awaken alone. Thematically, the game retains Ueda’s signature elements of solitude, mystery, monumental ruins, and enigmatic storytelling. Sequences in the trailer also evoke comparisons to Shadow of the Colossus, with vast landscapes, oversized structures, and the human-creature relationship.

Genatlas is confirmed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series consoles, and PC, with a PC version also available on the Epic Games Store. No official release date has been announced yet.
