The new roguelike adventure, Chivalware, developed by solo studio Regal Pigeon Games and published by The Arcade Crew, is now available for players to experience with a demo on Steam. This game blends real-time combat on a grid-based battlefield with a unique block-combination system, all set within a world that merges medieval fantasy with cyberpunk aesthetics. The developer has provided a demo for a preview, though an official launch date for the full game has not yet been announced. Chivalware combines tile-matching mechanics with real-time strategic combat. Players step into the role of a Disk Knight, a warrior wielding weapons inspired by floppy disks, tasked with defeating a tyrannical ruler driven insane by power and isolation. As players progress towards the castle, strange glitches hint at deeper mysteries.

The gameplay challenges players to strategically position pieces on the battlefield in groups of three, conquer and equip new weapons, and obliterate enemies while evading real-time attacks on a grid-based battlefield. Enemies appear rapidly, requiring players to quickly dodge across tiles to survive. Death during a run results in a game over, but permanent progression items and unlocks, such as weapon disks, are retained. The demo alone offers 34 unlockable weapon disks, a taste of the first Disk Knight character, and exploration of the initial biome. The full game promises a challenging roguelike experience across four distinct biomes and eight boss encounters. Players can choose from various Disk Knight characters, each possessing unique passive abilities, including the Tank Knight, Jester Knight, and Hyper Knight. The gameplay is designed to be easy to start but a true challenge to master, aiming to evolve the genre with new mechanics for both seasoned strategists and players with sharp reflexes. The demo provides access to the first biome, the first boss, and the initial playable character, The Disk Knight, with an added advanced difficulty mode for those seeking a greater challenge.

Chivalware is set for a PC release during the Brazilian spring. The game’s announcement is accompanied by a trailer showcasing its innovative hybrid genre action and enchanting pixel art style.
