Marvel Rivals is poised for its second year of content with the upcoming Season 8, titled “Sins of Alchemax,” set to launch on May 15th. The hero shooter will introduce a surprising new character: Devil Dinosaur, a massive, laser-breathing Tyrannosaurus Rex, who integrates seamlessly into the game’s chaotic Marvel universe. This new season marks a significant step for Marvel Rivals, establishing it as a compelling Marvel adaptation in video games. The season’s narrative is set in a futuristic New York of 2099, detailed in a cinematic sequence that depicts Cyclops confronting Alchemax’s robotic forces. Amidst this confrontation, Moon Girl is caught in the conflict, prompting Cyclops to make a sacrifice to ensure her safety. According to information provided by NetEase, Cyclops is subsequently captured and his immense optical powers are harnessed to fuel a vast barrier surrounding Alchemax’s headquarters, which explains his captive appearance in the new season.

While Cyclops is central to the season’s story, he will not be immediately available to play. Instead, Devil Dinosaur, Moon Girl’s faithful companion, will be the first new playable character for Season 8. Players can also refer to him as DD, though he should not be confused with Daredevil. Devil Dinosaur joins the Vanguard class, serving as the game’s tank. He possesses 850 HP and utilizes ranged attacks such as laser breath and a bubble shield. His capabilities include withstanding substantial damage, charging enemy lines, deploying a plasma beam, and protecting allies through Moon Girl’s telepathic abilities. Season 8, launching on May 15th, will also bring a variety of new cosmetic items and updates for existing characters: Hulk’s Infinity Hulk Bundle Deadpool’s Monster King Bundle Cosmetic bundles for Devil Dinosaur, including the ChronoArmor Bundle, Tropical Beast variant, and an Emoji Bundle. Rogue’s Starlit Rebel Chroma, featuring Midnight Mirage and High Noon variants, alongside Ultimate Ability VFX. Jeff the Land Shark’s Devil Landshark Chroma, with Magma Menace and Rosy Ruin variants, and Ultimate Ability VFX. New animation updates for Devil Dinosaur.
