Arc System Works, Marvel Games, and PlayStation Studios have released Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls, published by Sony Interactive Entertainment and PlayStation Publishing. The game is available on PlayStation 5 and PC, with cross-platform play. Developed by veterans of Dragon Ball Fighterz and Guilty Gear, Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls utilizes a 2.5D perspective and features a distinct vectorial art style. The game offers a 4v4 battle system where teams of characters, each fulfilling specific roles like leader or shooter, compete. This emphasis on strategy and character synergy is a core component, as simply attacking without understanding individual strengths and countering opponents will not lead to victory. The playable roster includes Iron Man, Captain America, Spider-Man, Doctor Doom, Ms. Marvel, Ghost Rider, Storm, Hulk, and Black Panther. Hulk’s Gamma Gauge enhances his strength and speed when filled. Black Panther is represented by Shuri, who wields the Spear of Bashenga and utilizes her special ability, Bast’s Blessing, for extended reach. The game’s primary antagonist is The Champion, an Elder of the Universe, whose motivations drive the conflict. Two additional teams are yet to be revealed.

During its playtest at Gamescom Latin America 2026, players could choose from 10 characters, including Hulk and Black Panther. The game offers high mobility, allowing for both horizontal and vertical approaches and dodges. Compared to Invincible VS, Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls provides a more responsive experience and is more accessible for new players, offering a gentler learning curve than the intricate combo inputs of Invincible VS. Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls is scheduled for release on August 6, 2026. Future downloadable content is planned, with four additional characters and further content expected within the first year of release. Upcoming public demonstrations of the game include Combo Breaker 2026 in Chicago, Illinois, starting May 22, and Hong Kong Comic Con 2026 in Hong Kong, beginning May 29. These events will showcase the newly announced Black Panther character and the Wakanda stage. With these additions, the playable character count rises to 13, with 5 available stages. While the roster size may initially seem daunting, the variety of characters enables diverse combo possibilities, with team composition influenced by the lead character. The game incorporates familiar elements from other intellectual properties, potentially making significant contributions to the fighting game genre.
