Asobo Studio has shared an update on Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, confirming that the game is nearing completion. This prequel is set fifteen years before the events of A Plague Tale: Requiem and introduces Sophia as the main character. Sophia, now 22 years old, features an updated design reflecting her youth, impoverished background, and serious disposition, including tattoos and chest belts. Raised in a bandit camp by her father, her upbringing will significantly impact gameplay. Players will control Sophia in aggressive close-combat scenarios, wielding swords and daggers, and employing parry and lethal counterattack techniques, a departure from the stealth-focused mechanics of A Plague Tale: Requiem. The game’s setting shifts to the Mediterranean Sea, specifically the Isle of the Minotaur, rumored to conceal a secret treasure. Resonance incorporates an “Echoes” mechanism that allows players to alternate between two temporal settings: 14th-century medieval Greece and ancient Minoan civilization. The development update confirms that production is in its final stages. The team is currently completing the last voice recording sessions and fine-tuning the soundtrack composed by Olivier Derivière.

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is expected to launch in 2026, likely before Grand Theft Auto VI, as the developers aim to avoid being overshadowed by Rockstar’s major release.
