Ubisoft has announced Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced, a remake of the 2013 title Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. The game is scheduled for a worldwide release on July 9, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Players can acquire it through the Ubisoft Store, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. Developed under the leadership of Ubisoft Singapore, Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced is a faithful remake utilizing the Anvil engine, which also powers Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The remake will feature raytraced lighting with global illumination (RTGI) and reflections, along with optimized performance offering 60 frames per second options on consoles. Graphics assets have been rebuilt for Micropolygon and Physically Based Rendering (PBR) pipelines, and the game incorporates fully modernized water rendering and simulation. New and enhanced features, quests, and stories are included. Players will be able to locate and assign new Officers to the Jackdaw. Reworked playable elements will offer new rewards and unique encounters on islands across the map. Additional missions and new scenes will feature Matt Ryan, Edward Kenway’s original voice actor, and the original cast.

The Jackdaw will feature more customization options, including new skins and all-new ship pets such as cats or monkey companions. Ten new shanties will join the classic collection for the crew to sing while sailing. The combat system has been reworked for action-adventure gameplay, introducing new visceral takedowns, parrying mechanics, quickfire rope dart and pistol moves, and a new enemy archetype, the Demolitionist. Stealth gameplay receives an overhaul with an “observe mode” that expands Edward’s Eagle Vision. The “crouch anywhere” feature allows Edward to lower his profile on land, while “dive anywhere” enables stealthy approaches to seafront locations and ships. Naval combat has been enhanced with new secondary weapons, including shrapnel barrels that explode to damage enemy sails and eight-pounders that create more weakpoints in enemy ship hulls. Parkour improvements include manual jumps, side ejects, height-gaining back ejects, quicker interrupts between parkour moves, and dynamic weather and objects.

The title has been completely rebuilt with the latest version of the Anvil engine, featuring updated visuals and gameplay improvements. Combat focuses on parrying, while stealth and parkour systems are enhanced. Naval mechanics are deeper, and new narrative content is included. Set during the Golden Age of Piracy, the game invites players to explore the Caribbean as Edward Kenway, a pirate captain involved in the conflict between Assassins and Templars. The protagonist encounters legendary figures such as Blackbeard, Anne Bonny, and Calico Jack as the fate of pirate endeavors hangs in the balance. During the Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced showcase, Ubisoft also confirmed the return of Grammy-nominated artist Woodkid to the franchise, collaborating on a reimagined track to be revealed later this year. Three editions of the game have been announced: Standard Edition: Available digitally for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, as well as in physical format for PS5, priced at R 299.90.
