Antonia Pellegrino is the New President of the Brazil Communication Company (EBC)

Antonia Pellegrino has been appointed as the new President of the Brazil Communication Company (EBC), according to the Secretaria de Comunicacao Social da Presidencia da Republica. Since 2023, she served as Director of Content and Programming at EBC, where she spearheaded the reconstruction of TV Brasil, expanding its audience and strengthening its cultural programming. Sidonio Palmeira, Minister of the Secretaria de Comunicacao Social da Presidencia da Republica, emphasized that Pellegrino’s appointment reflects a commitment to strengthening public communication in Brazil. He highlighted her management experience, editorial sensitivity, and deep understanding of Brazilian audiovisual. During her tenure as Director of Content and Programming, Pellegrino coordinated strategic initiatives, including reformulating the Sem Censura program, which won the 2024 APCA Award for Best Television Program. She also oversaw the TV Brasil selection process, the largest public communication bid in history, allocating R$110 million towards independent audiovisual production, including a pioneering novela. Additionally, she expanded the broadcaster’s presence in sports, notably through the transmission of women’s football. Pellegrino holds degrees in Social Sciences and master’s degrees in both Literature, Culture, and Contemporaneity from PUCRio, and Public Administration from FGVEBAPE. She has built a career as a screenwriter, recognized by the Brazilian Academy of Letters and the Brazilian Film Academy, as well as international film festivals. Her credits include contributing to the script of the Oscar-nominated documentary Democracy in Vertigo, developing projects such as the series Amar e Para os Fortes with Marcelo D2, and the 2024 film Manas. She has also worked as an author for TV novelas and series, while maintaining literary and journalistic work with media outlets such as Folha de S.Paulo and Piaui.
