Plaion and SNK are partnering to release the NeoGeo AES on November 12, 2026. The console, which allows users to play games via cartridges, will retail for $199.99, with individual cartridges costing $79.99 each. Preorders for both the standard black NeoGeo AES and a special Anniversary Edition began on Amazon Canada and Amazon USA on April 16, 2026. Note that early reports suggested a standard edition price of $179.99. For those seeking the ultimate NeoGeo experience, an Ultimate Edition is also available for $1000. This includes everything from the Anniversary Edition, plus ten additional games beyond the standard launch titles, and a game rack. Wireless versions of the arcade sticks and a NeoGeo CD-style controller are also being released, though it is unclear if the wired version will be sold separately.

According to Plaion, this updated version of the NeoGeo AES features redesigned ASIC (Application-Specific Integrated Circuits) chips to replicate the experience of the original 1990s machine. The console provides a low-latency HDMI output for gaming in HD resolutions up to 1080p. It also includes physical BIOS and DIP switches on its base, allowing users to overclock, switch territories, and toggle display modes via an onscreen menu. Additionally, the new memory cards offer the same functionality as the originals but without requiring a lithium battery for data storage. Finally, the system features low power consumption and permanently saves high scores for each game. The new NeoGeo AES is fully compatible with original NeoGeo AES cartridges. A collection of ten classic NeoGeo games will launch with the console, with more expected to follow. The Anniversary Edition, featuring an ice-white wireless arcade stick and an exclusive white Metal Slug cartridge, retails for $299.99. This white Metal Slug game cartridge is exclusive to the Anniversary Edition bundle, which also includes an ice-white design for the wireless Arcade Stick and a Memory Card.
