Crimson Desert Achieves Major Success in Korea

As Pearl Abyss aims to deliver a new, epic Korean gaming experience, Crimson Desert has already achieved significant commercial success. The action-adventure game topped Steam's global top sellers chart a day before its release and, within its first week, sold three million copies worldwide. This figure includes the two million copies sold in the initial 24 hours after launch. The game also ranked first worldwide in game revenue on Steam and boasted 240,000 concurrent players. Additionally, Crimson Desert was the most pre-ordered game on the PlayStation Store across major markets, including Korea, the US, UK, Germany, France, and Japan. The title also reached the top of the Epic Games Store's bestseller list, accumulating over three million wishlists on Steam prior to launch. This represents a notable achievement for a new IP from a Korean developer.

However, the game's release was not without its challenges. Initial player feedback cited concerns regarding the storyline and PC controls, resulting in only 61% positive reviews on Steam shortly after release. Consequently, Pearl Abyss's stock experienced a decline of over 30% between Thursday and Friday following the game's launch. Pearl Abyss has stated its commitment to addressing player feedback and implementing improvements. With these adjustments, the game is poised to build on its strong initial sales. Industry News: Nexon Games Co.'s ARC Raiders and Crimson Desert have both seen success on consoles and PC. NCSoft Corp. plans to release two new shooting games, Cinder City and Time Takers. Netmarble Corp.'s open-world RPG, The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin, ranked sixth on Steam's global top sellers chart upon its release. Kakao Games Corp. is set to launch the online action RPG ArcheAge Chronicles and the open-world zombie survival simulator God Save Birmingham for console and PC in the fourth quarter.
