PSR 2.0 of PS5 Pro Brings "Magic" to Space Marine 2

The addition of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 to the Extra and Premium tiers of the PlayStation Plus catalogue has generated significant buzz among PS5 players. Reddit users are calling it the best game to join the service in a long time, praising its gameplay and the visual enhancements enabled by the PS5 Pro. Players are particularly impressed by Sony's upscaling technology. One Reddit user on the PS5pro subreddit described the game's visuals as "NUT," adding that PSSR 2.0 delivers exceptional image clarity and performance fluidity previously considered impossible for console games of this scale. This demonstrates a successful integration of hardware and software, with Sony's AI-based technology reaching maturity with version 2.0, eliminating visual artifacts and maintaining clarity during intense on-screen action. Some PlayStation 5 gamers on Reddit have described Space Marine 2 as a "wild visual journey." The game is being lauded not only as one of this year's best PS Plus offerings, but also as compelling evidence justifying the power of PSSR 2.0 on Sony's premium consoles.

Sony's new PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) technology is now available on the PS5 Pro. The update, teased last month, is live today. In addition to Resident Evil Requiem, the following games now offer an enhanced upscaling experience with PSSR: Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill f, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Control, Alan Wake 2, Senua's Saga: Hellblade II, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Nioh 3, Rise of the Ronin, Monster Hunter Wilds, and Dragon's Dogma 2. Remedy Entertainment is implementing the updated PSSR in both Control and Alan Wake 2. According to Tatu Aalto, Graphics Technical Director at Remedy, this upgrade improves image upscaling quality and stability, enabling efficient stochastic sampling without compromising image stability. Aalto added that the new PSSR responds swiftly to game visibility changes, maintaining clear motion while enhancing temporal stability.

Enhanced Gameplay in Space Marine 2 with PS5 Pro's PSSR Upscaling and More Content Until 2025

In related news, a new update for Space Marine 2 introduces a new map for the multiplayer PvE mode, a new Chaos enemy, and a Dark Angels cosmetics pack for Space Marine customization. This update is now live on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, enhancing visual quality with higher resolution options and support for the PS5 Pro's PSSR upscaling tech, allowing for gameplay in 4K Plus. PC players also benefit from FSR 3 upscaling and DLSS 3 frame generation support. Saber Interactive has committed to providing additional content for Space Marine 2 until 2025, including free updates with new PvE operations, multiplayer maps and modes, and a Horde Mode. Season Passes will offer premium cosmetic options for Space Marines.
