Star Wars to Feature a Police and Thieves Story

The animated series Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord will premiere on Disney+ on April 6, presenting a new story set in the Star Wars galaxy. The show picks up a year after the Clone Wars, focusing on Maul's quest for revenge and his efforts to rebuild his criminal empire and find a new apprentice. The series introduces Brander Lawson, a detective from the Janix police department, who investigates Maul. According to Keith Kellogg, animation supervisor for the series, Maul – Shadow Lord will be a "fully police and thieves Star Wars." Set between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, the show allows viewers to explore Maul's activities during the rise of the Empire. Lucasfilm has stated that Maul remains a mysterious and compelling character whose story warrants further examination.

Star Wars: Maul's Empire Reborn - Rogue Jedi Allegiance

As Maul schemes to rebuild his criminal empire on a planet beyond the Empire’s reach, he encounters other figures affected by the galactic conflict. The series introduces Jedi Master EekoDioDaki and his Padawan, Devon Izara, who are on the run following Order 66. The trailer suggests Maul is seeking revenge against Emperor Palpatine and the Empire, and that Devon Izara, a former Jedi, will unexpectedly join forces with Maul. Dave Filoni conceived the series and serves as executive producer. The voice cast includes Sam Witwer as Maul, Gideon Adlon as Devon Izara, Oscar nominee Wagner Moura as Brander Lawson, Richard Ayoade as TwoBoots, Dennis Haysbert as Master EekoDioDaki, Chris Diamantopoulos as Looti Vario, Charlie Bushnell as Rylee Lawson, Vanessa Marshall as Rook Kast, David C. Collins as Spybot, A.J. LoCascio as Marrok, and Steve Blum as Icarus. The first two episodes of the 10-episode series will be available on April 6, with two new episodes released each subsequent week, culminating on May 4.
