Never Say Never": The Return of The Simpsons: Hit & Run May Actually Happen

The Simpsons: Hit & Run remains a fondly remembered game from the early 2000s, and fans have long requested its return through a remake, remaster, or sequel. Matt Selman, current showrunner for the TV series and one of the original game's writers, has now addressed the possibility of revisiting Springfield as a game. In an interview with People magazine, Selman acknowledged the game's strong and continued popularity. He admitted that revisiting it would be a complicated but interesting process and expressed surprise at the cult status the game has achieved since its release. However, when asked about the possibility of its return, Selman stated, "Never say never...We know people love the game...We know fans want it, and that's good." The game's cultural impact is clear. Recently, actor Barry Keoghan (known for films like The Banshees of Inisherin and Saltburn) publicly mentioned it as one of his favorite video games. Selman's openness gains even more significance considering recent developments: Radical Entertainment, the studio that originally created The Simpsons: Hit & Run, announced its return under the name New Radical Entertainment at the end of last February.

Revitalizing Classics: Simpsons Hit & Run Resurrection on the Horizon?

In their relaunch statement, the studio clearly stated that one of its main goals is to recover and remaster classic titles from its catalog and has expressed interest in resurrecting and updating games from its old catalog. This combination of the original studio's ambitions and the positive attitude of The Simpsons series producer suggests that a The Simpsons: Hit & Run revival may be within reach. For now, fans can only await an official announcement.
