Disney Confirms Live-Action Remake of One of Its Best Animated Films

Disney is charging ahead with live-action reinterpretations of its animated classics, and one of the most anticipated projects is Tangled, the 2010 film that brilliantly reimagined the Rapunzel fairy tale. Kathryn Hahn, fresh from her success in Marvel's Agatha All Along, has confirmed via Instagram that she will bring her talents to the role of Mother Gothel in this new adaptation. ComicBook.com also confirmed Hahn's casting. The remake will be helmed by Michael Gracey, celebrated for his work on The Greatest Showman. Stepping into the lead roles are Teagan Croft (known from DC's Titans) as Rapunzel, and Milo Manheim (from Disney's Zombies film series) as the charming rogue Flynn Rider. While Disney hasn't yet set an official premiere date, industry insiders anticipate Tangled will grace screens in 2027 or early 2028. This release window underscores a clear strategic shift for Disney. After successfully reimagining golden-era classics like Snow White, The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin, the studio is now setting its sights on breathing new life into more modern 3D animated hits. Tangled is just one piece of a larger wave of upcoming Disney adaptations, including:
