How Xbox Game Pass Helped Relic Hunters Legend Discover a Community Keeping It Alive

Before joining Xbox Game Pass, Relic Hunters Legend had a small but dedicated player base. According to Creative Director Mark Venturelli, the game's player count increased 20-fold on PC and Xbox after its inclusion in the Game Pass catalog. Now, just three months later, Relic Hunters Legend boasts a thriving community, largely on Xbox. The game's Discord server is active, with Game Pass players—mostly on Xbox—discussing and enjoying the experience. Venturelli credits Xbox Game Pass with exposing the game to a broad audience and establishing its active player base. The in-game Secret Market is populated by online Xbox players ready to team up, and crossplay ensures that Steam players can join the action. Relic Hunters Legend's debut on Xbox Game Pass redefined initial player perceptions. Venturelli observed that players accustomed to more serious games like Warframe or Destiny during its early access period on Steam may have been surprised by its lighter tone. Game Pass removed that barrier. Its vibrant visuals and action-packed gameplay distinguish it in the genre, and Xbox Game Pass provides seamless accessibility via cloud gaming and Xbox Play Anywhere, supporting play across console, Windows PC, smart TVs, and compatible mobile devices.

Relic Hunters Legend focuses on attracting a dedicated community crucial for its online multiplayer focus. Players discover deep systems and mechanics, including six hunters with unique powers and evolving ability trees. As an action shooter, Relic Hunters Legend includes a massive arsenal of weapons, from pistols to machine guns, with diverse rarities offering tactical advantages against enemies. The core gameplay loop revolves around hunting loot and relics through replayable 5- to 15-minute phases. Venturelli welcomes the Game Pass-driven surge in players, furthering his goal of widespread accessibility. Join the fight against the Duncan Empire in Relic Hunters Legend, available on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Premium, PC Game Pass, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, and Xbox Cloud Gaming. A free demo, offering 6 to 8 hours of gameplay, is also available. Originally released in August 2021 for PC and Xbox Series X|S, Relic Hunters Legend gained significant traction after joining Xbox Game Pass. Crossplay allows Xbox and Steam users to play together, and Xbox Play Anywhere extends gameplay across multiple platforms.
