MotoGP 26 Announced for April with New Physics

Milestone has announced MotoGP 26, the next installment in its motorcycle simulation franchise. In related news for sim racing enthusiasts, iRacing plans a major overhaul to its platform in 2026, updating its physics and tire model for both contemporary and historical content with a focus on next-gen slick tires, the IMSA Vintage class, and the Lotus 49. MotoGP 26 is scheduled for global release on April 29, 2026, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. Note that the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 versions do not support crossplay or community-created cosmetic item sharing and will limit races to 12 pilots. The new virtual season will include all official pilots and tracks from the MotoGP, Moto2, and Moto3 categories. Milestone has enhanced its physics model with a rider-based handling system, enabling players to control the bike by managing the pilot's weight and movements. The game also introduces a Dynamic Rider Ratings system. Each pilot receives a rating card based on lap time, pace, head-to-head performance, and reliability. These values are updated live according to real-world pilot performances in the ongoing championship, influencing the competitive balance of the starting grid in the game.

The Career Mode has been revised around a fully 3D paddock that serves as a meeting point during race weekends. Players will manage their life off the track through two new mechanisms: Thursday press conferences: Players can set short- and long-term goals, publicly challenge rivals, or pressure their team to develop new parts for the bike. Personal Manager: This figure handles contract negotiations, organizes meetings with teams or manufacturers, and guides players through transfer market decisions. The Race Off mode returns with a new location and the introduction of Production Bikes (street-legal 1000cc motorcycles), joining Motard, Flat Track, and Minibikes for training sessions. Milestone designed the game to accommodate all skill levels through Arcade and Pro experiences. The revised Arcade mode simplifies gameplay for beginners, while the Pro experience offers the tools for advanced bike tuning. Multiplayer mode returns with split-screen support and crossplay for up to 22 players.
