Resident Evil Requiem topped physical game sales in Japan last week, but its release did not significantly boost PlayStation 5 sales. During the week that Resident Evil Requiem launched, PS5 sales rose by 5,000 units to 15,000, suggesting that many Japanese consumers opted for the digital version. Meanwhile, the Nintendo Switch 2 remained the best-selling console, with over 85,000 units sold—22,000 more than the previous week. Capcom’s success with Resident Evil Village, which has sold over 6.5 million copies worldwide since its launch, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, which has surpassed 4 million units globally, and the Final Fantasy VII remake, which has exceeded 7 million copies on PlayStation 5 and PC since its release, highlights the company’s strong performance. Resident Evil Requiem has contributed to this success, selling over 5 million copies worldwide. In Japan, between February 23 and March 1, 2026, Resident Evil Requiem sold 155,000 physical copies on the PS5 and 38,800 on Nintendo Switch 2.

Developed using Capcom’s RE Engine, Resident Evil Requiem offers a new gaming experience with multiple difficulty settings and the ability to switch between first-person and third-person perspectives.
