Capcom Takes Unprecedented Measures for Actors in Resident Evil Requiem Production

To achieve authentic horror in Resident Evil: Requiem, Capcom fostered an unsettling atmosphere behind the scenes during motion capture. Angela Sant'Albano, the actress voicing and embodying the new protagonist Grace Ashcroft, described the unconventional environment. Instead of a typical, brightly lit motion capture studio, Capcom filmed in near darkness, using only flashlights or equipment lights. The recording space was designed to resemble the game's environments with desks and key props. Stunt performers physically interacted with the cast during filming, running at them or pulling them mid-scene to heighten the realism. In a PCGamesN interview, Sant'Albano shared how this approach made the set feel like a real horror movie. Actors performed together, and stunt actors worked directly with them during action scenes for enhanced realism. Actors were shown scenes and monster designs beforehand, or given details during capture sessions. The goal, Sant'Albano explained, was to recreate the isolation and tension players experience in the game's dark corridors. To that end, the stunt team unexpectedly advanced toward the actors, eliciting genuine reactions of panic and shock.
