The Sims 4 is expanding its customization options with the introduction of a creator program and marketplace. Beginning March 17th, players using the PC and Mac versions can access the in-game Marketplace. This new space highlights custom content creators and offers official custom content directly within the game. The Marketplace will become available on PlayStation and Xbox in the coming months. Content creators can also participate through The Sims 4 Maker Program, launching March 17th. This program allows designers to publish and sell custom mod packs on the official Marketplace. Applicants must pass a technical evaluation by submitting two assets for review, be fluent in English, be at least 18 years old, and not reside in a region embargoed by EA. Applications open March 5th. Purchases on the Marketplace are made using Moola, a virtual currency sold in fixed amounts. Moola can only be used for Maker Packs; official Sims packs will still be purchased with conventional currency. Moola cannot be earned in-game, is nonrefundable, is non-transferable across platforms, and cannot be shared between players, nor can Maker Packs.

The Marketplace will offer Expansion Packs, Game Packs, Stuff Packs, Kits, and Maker Packs created by both The Sims developers and approved Makers, all available for purchase with Moola. This expansion arrives after some controversy: last fall, several well-known The Sims 4 content creators left the EA Creator Network in protest. Their departure stemmed from Electronic Arts (EA) being bought by a group of investors that included Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), Silver Lake, and Jared Kushner’s Affinity Partners. The Sims Maker Program, opening for applications on March 5th, allows qualified content creators to officially publish on The Sims 4 Marketplace. They can set cover images and prices, and earn royalties while providing new content to players on all platforms worldwide. Note that the application period for The Sims Maker Program opens on March 5th, 2026.

The Vibrant World of User-Created Content in The Sims 4

The writers have already created content for The Sims 4 (TS4), including buildings, paintings, and households, with new creations added to the post at least monthly. Examples include art cards against blue backdrops showcasing designs like geometric patterns, hand illustrations, face drawings, and tile designs. Also available are rectangular designs on the same blue backdrop, featuring patterns such as hearts, diamonds, and abstract lines. These are all available for download. One such creation is a modern wooden Sims 4 house surrounded by greenery, complete with a patio, loungers, and a large window displaying a deer painting. The writers also offer sets of canvases for Sims 4 featuring various designs: abstract shapes, face outlines, and geometric patterns on blue backgrounds. Other examples of user-created content include a Sim character—light brown hair, a light beard, a red sweater, smiling against a gradient background—and a contemporary house combining modern and traditional architectural elements with a landscaped garden and outdoor seating area. With these new avenues for creativity and customization, The Sims 4 continues to evolve.
