Fuse Games has announced that Star Wars: Galactic Racer will be a premium game without a season pass, reflecting their belief that season passes are for free-to-play titles. In an interview with IGN, shared by Wccftech, Matt Webster, executive director and founder, and Kieran Crimmins, game director, explained that the game will feature a campaign, an arcade mode, and a multiplayer mode as a standalone experience. Webster acknowledged that the Star Wars universe is constantly evolving, leaving room for potential future content additions, but stressed that post-launch plans do not currently include a season pass. Set to release in 2026, Star Wars: Galactic Racer marks the debut project from UK-based Fuse Games, which was established in 2023 by former Criterion developers known for their work on Burnout and Need for Speed. The previous Star Wars racing game, Star Wars: Racer Revenge, was released in 2002. The developers have combined their love for high-speed arcade racing with the Star Wars universe, reviving podracing alongside other vehicles. The game is scheduled to be unveiled at The Game Awards in 2025.
