Battlefield 6's second season launches on February 17th, bringing players to Europe with new maps, limited-time modes, and a Battle Pass update. The season will also include content for the Battlefield REDSEC universe, adapting features for classic multiplayer, Battle Royale, and Arena modes. Season 2 unfolds in three phases between February and April. Phase 1, "Extreme Measures," arrives February 17th, introducing the "Contaminated" map, a bombed-out forest where experimental weaponry was deployed. A key feature is VL7, a psychoactive smoke that disrupts player senses and combat. VL7 will affect areas of Fort Lyndon in Battle Royale, requiring altered strategies. A Protective Mask, requiring filter management, will counter the smoke's effects. Phase 1 also delivers limited-time modes: VL7 Attack (Multiplayer), Synthesis (Battle Royale), and Altered State (Arena), as well as the M121 A2 ML, GRTCPS shotgun, and VCR2 assault rifle. Players can also utilize the MH350 helicopter and the returning AH6 Little Bird. Gear additions include the 9K38 Igla air defense launcher and HTIMk2 for recon and electronic warfare.
Phase 2, "Nightfall," launches March 17th with a nighttime version of Hagental Base, emphasizing stealth. Night Vision Goggles become essential, but their battery life and vulnerability to bright lights will demand careful resource management and tactical positioning. The CZ3A1 submachine gun and Skorpion vz. 61 secondary weapon are new additions, alongside motorcycles for increased mobility. Phase 3, "Hunter & Prey," concludes the season April 17th with "Operation Augur," a campaign across two maps drawing inspiration from Battlefield 1's Operations mode. New Battle Pass rewards include an unlockable claymore for close-quarters combat. Season 2's European setting features two main scenarios: the heavily damaged and chemically affected "Contaminated" area and "Base Hagental," offering options for direct combat or stealth depending on the time of day. These areas connect within "Operation Augur," forming a larger conflict narrative.
Battlefield 6 Season 2 - Easier Battle Pass Progression, New Items, and Adaptive Environmental Challenges
Battle Pass progression has been adjusted to allow easier earning of Pass Points through regular play and weekly challenges. The store will also receive new items, along with bonus themes featuring radio tracks from Battlefield Pro. Season content is shared between Battlefield 6 and REDSEC, with adaptations for each mode. For example, VL7 smoke affects specific areas in multiplayer but entire points of interest in Battle Royale. Season 2 presents environmental challenges that encourage players to adapt and experiment with new combat tactics.
