Ghost of Yotei Outsells Ghost of Tsushima, According to Sony

The release of Ghost of Yotei on October 2, 2025, for the PlayStation 5 sparked immediate discussion, especially surrounding its title. Defying initial skepticism, the game quickly became a major success. Within a month, Ghost of Yotei had sold over 3 million copies, a performance that Sony highlighted in their financial report. According to Lin Tao, PlayStation's CFO, Ghost of Yotei's launch sales outpaced those of Ghost of Tsushima during a comparable period. While Sony did not specify the exact timeframe, their statement confirms that Ghost of Yotei's early performance exceeded that of its predecessor. For comparison, Ghost of Tsushima sold 2.4 million copies in its first three days on the PlayStation 4 and reached 5 million within approximately four months. Ultimately, Ghost of Tsushima achieved over 13 million sales across all platforms. Ghost of Yotei's ability to surpass Ghost of Tsushima's early sales is particularly significant, considering the latter's advantage of launching during the PlayStation 4's larger user base and the increased at-home gaming driven by the 2020 pandemic.

Ghost of Yotei Sales Soar Beyond Expectations with Anticipated Expansions and Potential Future Releases

While Sony has yet to release updated sales figures, sources indicate that Ghost of Yotei is exceeding expectations. The upcoming multiplayer expansion, Ghost of Yotei Legends, is expected to further boost sales later this year. Industry insiders suggest plans for a Director's Cut on PC, and a potential PlayStation 6 version may be in development, consistent with Sony's history of platform-spanning releases.
