Pearl Abyss released a new video today (29th) detailing the protagonist, Kliff, and the open world of Crimson Desert. The video explores Kliff’s backstory and motivations, and it previews the continent of Pywel, where the game is set. Pywel features diverse landscapes, including wildlands, vibrant cities, ancient ruins, and varied regions, all threatened by a looming conflict and supernatural dangers. Players will assume the role of Kliff, a skilled warrior from the northern Greymane faction, which champions peace and unity. However, this peace is shattered at the beginning of Crimson Desert, compelling Kliff to unite his people and defend their homeland. As the story progresses, Kliff must confront the grave peril facing his home and the entire continent. A significant threat emerges from the abyss, a chaotic hidden realm. The realm’s encroachment upon Pywel causes widespread disruption. A central part of Kliff’s journey involves restoring balance and confronting those who seek to exploit the abyss’s power. The video also highlights the open-world aspects of Crimson Desert. Pywel is divided into five regions: Hernand, Pailune, Demeniss, Delesyia, and the Crimson Desert itself. Each region presents unique stories, landscapes, and challenges.

The world is filled with hidden treasures, ancient mechanisms, and puzzles to discover. Combat encounters vary widely, ranging from soldiers and sorcerers to beasts and rogue machines. Players can acquire powerful equipment through quests and exploration, and understanding the world unlocks new paths and abilities.
