Struggling to Revitalize Highguard: Addressing Player Concerns for Game's Success
Wildlight Entertainment's Highguard generated considerable buzz when it was unveiled at the Game Awards 2025, though the announcement itself drew some criticism. The free-to-play release one month later attracted an initial player base, but interest quickly waned. Highguard peaked at over 97,000 concurrent players on Steam before plummeting to approximately 20,000. Player counts have since dwindled, with the game struggling to maintain even 10,000 concurrent players. Many appear to have tried the game once out of curiosity before moving on. The game's average Steam review score currently sits at 39, with negative feedback focusing on gameplay and core concepts. Wildlight Entertainment faces the challenge of revitalizing Highguard.
