Developers Prefer PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 Over Xbox Series X/S for Game Development

A recent Game Developers Conference (GDC) survey revealed the platforms that over 2,000 industry professionals are most interested in developing for. The survey results indicate that approximately 40% of respondents selected PlayStation 5, with nearly as many indicating interest in the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. However, only about 20% preferred developing for Xbox Series X/S. These results suggest that twice as many developers favor Sony and Nintendo platforms over Xbox. Developers cited audience reach, monetization methods, and game discoverability as key factors in their platform preferences. The survey also indicated that PC remains the most popular platform among game developers, with around 80% expressing a desire to create games for it.
