Nielsen, the audience data firm, announced the results of its second annual Artemy Awards on February 28, recognizing achievements in streaming content. The data revealed that viewers spent 16.7 trillion minutes—nearly 279 billion hours—on streaming platforms in 2023, a 19% increase from the previous year. Bluey took the top prize for the second consecutive year, with 45.2 billion minutes viewed. Seth MacFarlane, the comedian and creator of The Simpsons and the Ted movies, was named Streaming Icon of the Year. His work with Fuzzy Door Productions accounts for approximately 60 billion hours of streamed content across various platforms. Gunsmoke, the Western series that originally aired from 1955 to 1975 and is now available on Paramount+, Pluto TV, and Peacock, earned the Most Binged award. Nielsen reported that viewers watched an average of 241 episodes of Gunsmoke, which is about a third of the series’ total 655 episodes.
