Capcom Women Aimed to Draw a More Charming Leon Kennedy for Resident Evil Requiem

Transformed Leon Kennedy: Capcom's Quest for a Matured, Charming "Cool Uncle" Look in Resident Evil: Requiem (2026)

The upcoming Resident Evil: Requiem, slated for release on February 27, 2026, has generated considerable discussion among fans, particularly regarding Capcom's approach to Leon S. Kennedy's character design. According to Director Koshi Nakanishi, this redesign proved challenging and involved unusual approaches. Nakanishi stated that the team spent a significant amount of time refining Leon's appearance. Colleagues—especially women—scrutinized details such as the wrinkles on his neck to portray Leon as more mature, aiming for a "cool uncle" vibe without exaggerating the changes. Nakanishi added that the team had many passionate debates about Leon's appearance and demeanor, as everyone held distinct ideas about the character. However, Capcom confirms that the final design reflects Leon's natural progression, presenting a seasoned appearance that retains the character's original charm.
