Star Wars: Maul - Shadow Lord Unveils First Trailer, Set for Disney+ Release Date

Star Wars: Maul - Shadow Lord: A Darker Empire on Janix (Disney+)

Lucasfilm has released the first official trailer for Star Wars: Maul - Shadow Lord, an animated series centered on Darth Maul. The trailer showcases Maul's evolution from a Phantom Menace villain to a hardened figure seeking power after his defeat. Set after The Clone Wars, the series follows Maul as he establishes his criminal empire on Janix, a planet that even the Empire struggles to control. The trailer suggests a darker, more serious tone, balancing action-packed underworld conflicts with Maul's personal struggles. To bring this story to life, Sam Witwer reprises his role as the voice of Maul, a role he previously held in The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. Gideon Adlon joins the cast as Devon Izara, a Jedi Padawan, and Wagner Moura voices Captain Brander Lawson. The animation style retains the familiar Clone Wars aesthetic, refined to reflect a more mature tone.
