Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade Runs at 1080p on Nintendo Switch 2
Enjoy the enhanced visuals and faster load times on Nintendo Switch 2 in Square Enix's Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade, though it doesn't quite match the performance of PlayStation 5 consoles.

With the Nintendo Switch 2 on the horizon, anticipation is building for the release of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade (FF7R I). The new console's improved specs allow for games previously unavailable on Nintendo platforms, and the capabilities of the hardware are generating considerable interest, especially with Square Enix's support. Digital Foundry's analysis of FF7R I on Switch 2 compared the port to PS4 and PS5 versions, finding its performance in between the two. It largely mirrors the PS4 version but incorporates enhancements without fully reaching the level of the PS5. On the Switch 2, FF7R I maintains a consistent 30fps. Certain textures, such as those in portals and environmental details, exhibit greater sharpness compared to the PS4 version. While it doesn't match the visual fidelity of the PS5, the Switch 2 version performs admirably. Shadow quality and character pop-in are comparable to the PS4, but the Switch 2 benefits from some lighting enhancements present in the Intergrade version, albeit with slight adjustments to volumetric lighting.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade's Impressive Performance on Nintendo Switch 2 vs. PS4 & PS5 - Docked vs Handheld Analysis
When docked, the Switch 2 renders FF7R I at 1080p, providing a noticeably sharper image than the PS4. According to Digital Foundry, the docked Switch 2 version, utilizing DLSS for antialiasing, can even rival the PS5's Performance Mode in certain comparisons. However, in handheld mode, DLSS helps display a 720p image while running at 1080p, resulting in a reduction in overall quality and sharpness. The Switch 2 significantly reduces load times, clocking in at under 7 seconds compared to over 17 seconds on the PS4. While not as fast as the PS5's 2-second load times, it's a significant improvement over the PS4.
