Capcom to Announce Remake of Resident Evil: Code Veronica This Year, Insider Claims

According to an insider with a reliable history of Resident Evil leaks, Capcom will announce a remake of Resident Evil: Code Veronica before the end of the year. The claim comes from the profile Dusk Golem on X, who stated there would be no Resident Evil 5 remake announcement this year, but instead, "a fresh take on Resident Evil: Code Veronica." Dusk Golem's comment came in response to a post by actress Eva La Dare, who played Sheva Alomar in Resident Evil 5. La Dare hinted at "fun things lined up for March," along with hashtags for Resident Evil 5 and the series' 30th anniversary, leading to speculation about a possible Resident Evil 5 remake after Resident Evil Revelations. Dusk Golem clarified that her project is unrelated to a Resident Evil 5 remake. Resident Evil: Code Veronica, which some consider the true sequel to Resident Evil 2, focuses on Claire Redfield's search for her brother, Chris. The remake is expected to release on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

Remakes of Resident Evil 0 and Code Veronica High on Fans' Wishlist, Potential Changes for Resident Evil 5 and 6

Capcom has acknowledged plans to release further Resident Evil remakes, and fan speculation has focused on which titles are most likely to be revisited. Last year's community survey indicated that Resident Evil 0 and Resident Evil: Code Veronica were the most requested titles for remakes. While Resident Evil 5 remains a potential candidate, Resident Evil 6, the least popular installment, would require significant revisions to warrant a remake.
