PS5 Embraces Hyperpop with Three New Designs for Controllers and Console Facades

PlayStation 5 Hyperpop Collection Unveils Vibrant Designs for DualSense Controllers and Console Facades (January 16 Preorders)

Sony Interactive Entertainment will release the Hyperpop Collection on March 12, 2026, introducing three new aesthetic designs for the PlayStation 5 DualSense controller and console faceplates, featuring vibrant colors and glossy finishes. According to a post on the PlayStation Blog, designers Leo Cardoso and Sae Kobayashi of Sony's CMF (Color, Material, and Finish) team spearheaded the Hyperpop Collection, using innovative techniques to give the PlayStation 5 hardware a sleek, reflective gradient. Cardoso stated that the aim was to create accessories that "do not just stand out, but take control of the space." Kobayashi highlighted the gradient's subtlety and the finishes' shine, designed to showcase colors from all angles, including on slightly transparent console facades. Preorders for the standard PS5 Hyperpop Collection begin January 16 at PlayStation Direct and select retailers. The collection includes Techno Red, Remix Green, and Rhythm Blue color options. The Hyperpop Collection faceplates are compatible with both the Blu-ray and Digital Edition of the slim PS5 model, but not with the original launch model due to chassis differences. However, the DualSense controllers from the collection are compatible with all PlayStation 5 models, including the original, the slim version, and future iterations like the PS5 Pro.

The Hyperpop Collection targets gamers who enjoy customizing their setups with official Sony accessories that seamlessly integrate with an RGB theme. Streamers and content creators who view their setups as brand extensions will likely find this appealing. Priced at $75 for the console covers and $85 for the controllers, the Hyperpop Collection offers a premium design option. The collection presents three distinct styles: Techno Red (an electric red), Remix Green (a vibrant green), and Rhythm Blue (a saturated blue with bright accents). For PlayStation enthusiasts seeking a bold and customizable look, the Hyperpop Collection delivers a vibrant aesthetic.
