New Sophie Turner Transforms into Lara Croft through Video Games and Comics for Prime Video’s Tomb Raider Series

Sophie Turner, best known for her role as Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones, is poised to gain even greater recognition for her upcoming portrayal of Lara Croft in the Prime Video Tomb Raider series. To prepare for the role, Turner is immersing herself in the Tomb Raider video games and comics, specifically the Colossal Collections, rather than watching the previous film adaptations starring Angelina Jolie or Alicia Vikander. “I’m playing the games, reading the comics…I’m doing all this, but I’m not focusing on previous versions because I don’t want to imitate—I need to create my own thing. So, despite loving the movies, I can’t watch them now,” Turner told SiriusXM. The Tomb Raider live-action series, a production of Amazon MGM Studios, Crystal Dynamics, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge, will stream on Prime Video. Waller-Bridge will serve as creator, writer, executive producer, and co-showrunner alongside Chad Hodge. Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Celia Imrie, and Bill Paterson have also joined the cast.
