January 2026’s PS Plus Free Games Revealed: Need for Speed Unbound Leads the Pack

As 2025 draws to a close—a year marked by industry layoffs and consumer price increases, including for PlayStation Plus members—subscribers eagerly anticipate the first free games of January 2026. Sony has announced a significant change: the end of PS4 titles in the PlayStation Plus Essential selection, which will affect many players still using the older console as they await their transition to the PS5. Ahead of the official announcement of January’s free games, French dataminer Billbilkun has revealed that Need for Speed Unbound, Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, and Core Keeper will be available to PlayStation Plus subscribers. Notably, Epic Mickey: Rebrushed and Core Keeper will be available on both PS4 and PS5. According to Billbilkun, Need for Speed Unbound, released in 2022, will headline the PlayStation Plus Essential offerings for January 2026. The game combines cel-shaded animation with realistic environments and allows players to customize their cars for thrilling races while evading the police. The three free PS Plus games for January 2026 will be fully revealed later today and available for download from January 6 to February 3, 2026 (around 11 AM French time).
