In the upcoming film Mercy, Chris Pratt takes on the role of Raven, a detective in a near-future setting accused of his wife's murder. He must prove his innocence in 90 minutes during a trial overseen by Maddox, an advanced AI judge he helped create within the Mercy Capital Court system. Rebecca Ferguson portrays Maddox, whose verdict is final. The new trailer for Mercy reveals a tense, high-stakes scenario. It shows Pratt strapped to a chair, surrounded by cameras and data systems as time ticks away. Snippets of his investigation appear, including the use of holograms and neural interfaces. Directed by Timur Bekmambetov, and written by Marco van Belle, Mercy explores the implications of technology's overuse in the justice system, set in 2029. The film's score, composed by an as-yet-unnamed artist, will feature synthetic beats designed to emulate the AI's thought processes. Chris Pratt is also scheduled to appear in the 2026 sequel to The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. Mercy premieres on January 23, 2026.
