Mindseye Free Starter Pack Revitalizes Game Post-Launch Disaster
Following a disastrous launch in June 2025, Build A Rocket Boy studio is attempting to revitalize Mindseye with the release of the Mindseye Free Starter Pack, a permanent free entry point into the game. Available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, this pack offers a portion of the campaign and access to regularly updated content, designed to showcase the game's potential. The free version features the "Robin Hood" mission, widely considered a highlight, which follows Jacob Diaz, an ex-soldier with a neural implant and unstable memories, through urban gunfights, vehicle pursuits, and a final action-stealth confrontation. Players can also experience additional combat, survival, and racing challenges in Arcadia. Mindseye's initial release was critically panned, leading to staff dismissals at Build A Rocket Boy amid allegations of mismanagement. Subsequent updates delivered corrections, AI enhancements, combat revisions, and other fixes that should have been included at launch. The Free Starter Pack arrived with Update 6, which also brought stabilization, performance improvements, and better animations. In an effort to win back players, the full version of Mindseye is currently on sale for $29.99 $27.49, a 50% discount.
Free Version, Build A Rocket Boy Refreshes Arcadia's Content Quality
By offering this free version and focusing on addressing past shortcomings, Build A Rocket Boy aims to provide a fresh start for both curious players and those who abandoned the title after negative first impressions. While the "Robin Hood" mission is a standout, the quality of other content in Arcadia and the main story remains inconsistent.

In his latest post "MindsEye is the Worst Game of 2025" (published November 17), he examines Metacritic's lowest-rated games this year, with MindsEye on PC taking the undesirable crown. But it's not all about disappointment; over at Rockstar North, over 200 employees have rallied behind their dismissed colleagues in a surprising show of solidarity. Bruno Pferd reports that these team members, working on GTA 6, have penned a letter demanding the reinstatement of over 30 employees allegedly fired for breaching company policies. And that's not all; a British union has accused Rockstar Games of unfair labor practices, sparking protests at Take-Two's European headquarters and Rockstar offices.
