Capcom Set to Resurrect Another Series

Capcom Revisits Dead Rising Franchise with Direct Sequel 'Dead Rising 5

Between 2006 and 2016, Capcom released four games in the Dead Rising series. After a nine-year hiatus, Capcom announced a remaster of the first game in 2024, signaling their intent to revitalize the franchise, similar to their approach with Okami and Onimusha. According to MP1st, a new Dead Rising project, codenamed Rec, has been in development since 2023. This installment, Dead Rising 5, will be a direct sequel to the original game, featuring the return of Frank West. The story unfolds on a Hollywood movie lot, where Frank confronts a new breed of zombies controlled by an unhinged director. This director forces Frank and other survivors through zombie-related challenges to capture the perfect scenes for his ultimate movie. Adding to the challenges, Psychopaths will return, with Isabela Keyes aiding Frank. Sources cited by MP1st also indicate the inclusion of a new virus, the time mechanic, and the need to rescue other survivors, as the director threatens to detonate explosives if his orders aren’t followed. While Capcom has not officially confirmed a new Dead Rising game, MP1st has revealed details regarding the setting and plot of this upcoming project. No release date has been predicted, and fans eagerly await official confirmation.
