Cronos: The New Dawn - Half a Million for Bloober Team's Survival Horror

Bloober Team's Cronos Surpasses 500K Sales, Firming Position in Survival Horror Genre

On November 26, 2025, Cronos: The New Dawn reached 500,000 copies sold, confirming Bloober Team's rise from an artsy outsider in the horror scene to a major player in the genre with this new intellectual property. CEO Piotr Babieno acknowledged the risk Cronos represented, stating, "We are extremely proud of this success... Cronos is a new intellectual property, and we often say that this title isn’t for everyone, which makes it even more rewarding to see it reach such a broad audience, proving that survival horror continues to pique players' interests.” He added, “From a strategic perspective, we’ve always thought that each new title brings us closer to mastering the art of horror, while also being bigger and more ambitious, and in this specific case, we’ve successfully taken another significant step along this path." The game's sales prove particularly impressive, given its status as a new license in the demanding survival horror category with a multiplatform release—appealing to a notoriously hard-to-please fanbase. The $500,000 title garnered a respectable 77 from critics and an 8.2/10 from players on Metacritic, praising an overall pleasant, if not flawless, adventure.

Surpassing Bongo Cat's Player Score on Steam, Bloober Team's Cronos Gains Momentum in Survival Horror Genre

To put the game's success in perspective, consider other titles on Steam. Cronos: The New Dawn is not the top free Survival Horror game; that title belongs to Bongo Cat, developed by Julius Kruger and Marcel Zurawka and published by Irox Games, which boasts a Player Score of 96 based on 67,847 reviews, earning it an "Overwhelmingly Positive" rating. Bongo Cat (Steam App ID 3419430) is playable on Windows, but Steam Deck support is unconfirmed. An example of a free cross-platform strategy card game available on Windows is Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel (Steam App ID 1449850). Developed and published by Konami Digital Entertainment and Konami, it debuted on January 19, 2022, and currently holds a score of 72 on Steam, ranking it fourth among top free Survival Horror games. The score is based on 92,919 reviews, with 67,754 positive and 25,165 negative, resulting in a "Mostly Positive" rating. Valve has also approved it as Steam Deck playable. Babieno affirmed that the game's promotion is ongoing, with the studio entering new markets and preparing more surprises. With solid sales, a growing fanbase, and positive critical reception, Cronos: The New Dawn already suggests a viable new IP for Bloober Team.
