Best-Selling Stellar Blade Expands Globally with PS5 Release and Black Friday Sale

Shift Up, the Korean studio known for Nikke: Goddess of Victory, achieved global recognition with the PlayStation 5 exclusive Stellar Blade. The game has become a valuable asset, with Shift Up highlighting its success in a recent financial report. Stellar Blade Overtakes PlayStation Titans on PC – Peak Players Surpass Ghost of Tsushima by Nearly Double

According to Shift Up’s financial report, Stellar Blade has become the best-performing single-player PlayStation title on PC, surpassing God of War, Spider-Man, and Horizon. On Steam, the game recorded a peak of over 192,000 concurrent players, 2.5 times higher than Ghost of Tsushima, which previously held the record for a PlayStation internal studio on Valve’s platform. Stellar Blade’s peak nearly doubles Ghost of Tsushima’s initial PC launch numbers from last year. For comparison, God of War currently has 73,000 concurrent players. While Marvel’s Spider-Man, Horizon Zero Dawn, and The Last of Us rank in the top six, their specific concurrent player numbers have not been disclosed. (The multiplayer game Helldivers 2 achieved a much higher concurrent peak than Stellar Blade.) Shift Up also posted a chart confirming that Stellar Blade is the best-selling PlayStation exclusive launch title on Steam, though specific sales numbers since its PC release five months ago were not included.

Riding this success, Shift Up is currently hiring for an upcoming project, likely a sequel to Stellar Blade. Some job postings indicate long-term commitments of eight to ten years, suggesting significant, ongoing projects. While details about Stellar Blade 2 remain under wraps, developers promise it will maintain the original’s action-packed spirit while delivering a broader world and enhanced gameplay. Stellar Blade has already sold over three million units, with two million on PS5. The success of Stellar Blade has clearly positioned Shift Up for continued growth and ambitious future projects.
