Rumor Suggests New Multiplayer Halo Game in Fortnite Style for 2026

New Live-Service Halo Game (2026) Offers Cross-Platform Multiplayer with Regular Updates

Microsoft is reportedly developing a live-service Halo game slated for release in 2026, featuring Fortnite-style, regular content updates, according to Rebs Gaming. This multiplayer-focused title will deliver ongoing content through seasonal events and new modes, rather than a battle royale format. Notably, the game is designed as a cross-platform experience for PS5, Xbox, and PC—a first for the Halo franchise. Prior to last week's Halo World Championship event, Rebs Gaming also mentioned the live-service project alongside a remake of Combat Evolved, both anticipated in 2026. The source did not disclose details regarding gameplay or monetization. However, a cross-platform Halo title with consistent updates represents a considerable risk, especially given the challenges faced by games like Conflict: Agreed and XDefiant in the competitive multiplayer landscape. This new direction could prompt Bungie to re-evaluate its long-term strategy for the series.
