Active Game Studios in Portugal Surpass €100M Revenue Mark, Boosting Industry Growth

The Portuguese Association of Video Games (APVP) recently hosted a Game Break at the Parliament, in collaboration with Lisbon's Unicorn Factory Gaming Hub. The event focused on growth within the gaming industry and drew over 100 attendees, including representatives from studios, schools, and public sector organizations across Portugal. Participants engaged with policymakers to discuss strategies for growing the Portuguese game development landscape. Diogo Rato, the head of APVP, announced that Portugal now has over 160 game development studios. Collectively, these studios generated over €100 million in revenue last year, marking an increase of more than 60% compared to five years prior. Studios such as Barking Beagle and Red Pine showcased their latest games at the event. The Game Break was considered a positive step toward strengthening the connection between the Portuguese gaming industry and the government.
