Waiting for FF9 Remake? Here's More Bad News for You

Anticipating Final Fantasy IX Remake? New Reports Suggest Possible Delays

Final Fantasy IX may not be everyone's favorite, but it remains a beloved title, with many fans hoping for a remake akin to Final Fantasy VII. Hopes were initially raised by a GeForce Now leak last year that specifically mentioned a Final Fantasy IX Remake. However, recent reports suggest a less optimistic outlook, indicating potentially disappointing news for those awaiting its development.

Possible Delays or Cancellation of Final Fantasy IX Remake? Insider Suggests Development Paused

Despite heightened anticipation surrounding Final Fantasy IX's 25th anniversary this summer, Square Enix's commemorations, which included a collector's edition, notably contained no announcements regarding a remake. In light of this, fans turned to Nate The Hate, a known source for insider information. Nate The Hate began by stating, "I don't have any new info to share," a remark that likely disappointed fans. This was followed by a more significant revelation: "Right now, it seems like Final Fantasy IX Remake is on ice. Word is its development's not happening and even Square Enix might be reconsidering releasing it." The source then reiterated, "I don't have any new info to share," underscoring the current lack of positive developments. While Nate The Hate is often a reliable source for insider information, no official announcements have been made regarding a Final Fantasy IX Remake. Additionally, previous GeForce Now leaks have listed titles, such as BioShock Remastered and a Tomb Raider 25th Anniversary Edition, that ultimately did not come to fruition. Therefore, the future of a Final Fantasy IX Remake remains uncertain until official word is released.
