Balanced Play: LEGO Bridges Physical and Digital Worlds, Boosting Families' Bond and Skill Development
The LEGO Group surveyed over 17,000 parents in 17 countries to understand how playing with physical toys and on screens affects families worldwide. The findings indicate that a balanced mix of both types of play is highly beneficial. A significant 95% of parents believe it's important for children to engage in both physical and digital play, with over 76% already doing so together. According to The LEGO Group's report, parents recognize the positive impact of both play forms. For instance, 61% observe that playing with physical toys enhances children's communication and creativity. Similarly, parents report that video games help children develop strategic thinking (62%), problem-solving skills (52%), and creativity (53%). Responding to these insights, LEGO is actively creating opportunities for families to enjoy both on-screen and off-screen fun. Initiatives such as LEGO Voyagers and LEGO Fortnite Brick Life offer integrated play experiences, which are particularly helpful for parents concerned about their children's screen time.
LEGO's Diverse Digital and Physical Adventures Celebrate 3 Decades, Expanding into the Future
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the first LEGO video game, LEGO Island. Since its release, numerous titles like LEGO Racers and LEGO Star Wars have entertained players for decades. Furthermore, video games have served as inspiration for new physical toy lines, including LEGO Super Mario and LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog. New digital adventures are also planned for the future, such as LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, scheduled for release in 2026. This ongoing blend of physical and digital experiences highlights LEGO's commitment to diverse and engaging play for families.
