New PS5 Pro with Internal Changes

PS5 Pro Revision: Lighter, Quieter, and More Efficient Console

Sony has released a new PS5 Pro console, model CFI-7121, featuring several internal and external refinements. While not a major performance upgrade, this revision is notably lighter, more energy-efficient, and quieter than previous versions. The console's weight has been reduced by approximately 87 grams, primarily due to a lighter fan and a redesigned heat sink. Sony also revised the power supply, further contributing to the overall weight reduction. In terms of acoustics, the new model operates approximately 20% quieter, achieving a noise level comparable to the PS5 Slim. According to tests conducted by Austin Evans on YouTube, the console also demonstrates up to 4% greater energy efficiency without any discernible impact on performance. Additionally, the DualSense controller has received minor updates, including a new battery connector and one fewer microphone; however, its core functionality remains unchanged. Overall, this updated PS5 Pro version doesn't introduce revolutionary changes but rather indicates Sony's ongoing efforts to optimize production, resulting in a quieter, cooler, and marginally more cost-effective console to manufacture.
