Doctor Who Future Uncertain Despite Tranter's Reassurance on Remaining Episodes and Spin-off Series
Jane Tranter, executive producer of Doctor Who, has refuted writer Robert Shearman's claim that the show is "dead," describing his comment as "rude and wrong." Tranter clarified the show's status, detailing its partnership with Disney for a 26-episode deal. Of these episodes, 21 have aired, with five remaining. These five are linked to a spin-off series, The War Between the Land and the Sea, scheduled for 2026. Beyond these episodes, the show's future remains uncertain. Tranter acknowledged that changes are occurring, but emphasized this is a common evolution for a long-running series. She concluded with a message of reassurance for fans, stating, "The Doctor will be back," although the timing and the actor for the role remain unrevealed.
