EA Phases Out Online Services for NHL 21, Anthem, and More by 2026

Electronic Arts is discontinuing online services for ten of its titles, ending multiplayer access and leaving devoted communities behind. This move marks the conclusion for several games, with online servers shutting down on a staggered timeline. The first title Electronic Arts will take offline is NHL 21, which will cease online functionality on October 6th. In November, Electronic Arts will shut down EA Sports FC Empires mobile. Additionally, the company will discontinue online services for Need for Speed Rivals and three other unnamed titles in November, bringing an end to their online features. Further discontinuations are scheduled for 2026. On January 12th, Electronic Arts will take Anthem offline. Despite its varied reception, the game was recognized for its innovative concepts. Following this, on March 16th, Electronic Arts will also terminate online services for four racing titles from its Dirt and Grid franchises. Players therefore have limited time remaining to experience the online features of these ten games before their respective shutdowns.
