Xbox Series S Introduced Challenges for Battlefield 6 Team

Optimizing Battlefield 6 for Xbox Series S Memory Challenges Boosts Stability and Smooth Gameplay

Optimizing Battlefield 6 for the Xbox Series S posed significant challenges for developers, primarily due to the console's limited memory, according to Christian Buhl in an interview with Kotaku. Buhl noted that the Xbox Series S has less memory than the team's midrange PC specifications. Around six to twelve months prior to Buhl's remarks, the development team discovered that certain game levels caused issues on the Xbox Series S, with some instances leading to freezing or blocking gameplay. In response, the team dedicated substantial effort to optimizing memory usage specifically for the Series S. Buhl affirmed this optimization improved the game's overall stability, despite requiring additional work. The team conducted extensive testing to identify the root causes of these problems, successfully resolving all identified issues within one to two months. As a result of these efforts, Battlefield 6 now runs consistently at 60 frames per second on the Xbox Series S, ensuring a smooth gameplay experience on the console.
