Resident Evil 9 Requiem: Switch 2 Version Confirmed, Graphical Compromises Involved

Resident Evil 9 Requiem Multi-Platform Launch Confirmed for Switch, February 2026

Capcom announced Resident Evil 9 Requiem during the Nintendo Direct on September 12, 2025, confirming its release for February 27, 2026. This multi-platform launch demonstrates Capcom's expanded console release strategy. On February 27, 2026, Resident Evil 9 Requiem, Resident Evil 7 Biohazard Gold Edition, and Resident Evil Village Gold Edition will all release for the Switch. Unlike previous titles, these will be native console versions, not Cloud Editions. The Switch versions of these games are expected to feature graphical concessions, including less detailed textures, softer lighting, and potential frame rate fluctuations in demanding sequences, given the console's hardware specifications compared to PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S. A new trailer offers a glimpse into the Wrenwood Hotel, the latest setting for horror, featuring new adversaries and unsettling encounters. Capcom aims to blend familiar elements with novel twists, maintaining tension while introducing surprises for veteran players. The narrative, set 30 years after the Raccoon City incident, centers on Grace Ashcroft, an FBI analyst. Beyond typical zombie horror, gameplay emphasizes nerve-wracking creatures and strategic inventory management. The death of Grace's mother, Alyssa, serves as a significant plot point, integrating family drama into the horror elements.

While the Switch 2 version is expected to feature graphical adjustments compared to other platforms, it will also be a native console release, avoiding Cloud Editions.
